global warming?
Snow last week and the Sahara desert this week. The surface Temp. on the river has jumped to 75 degrees. The good news is the river is still rising and the weed beds are becoming visible. The staff went pike fishing last night and we caught 6. Morgan landed a 30 incher on a 5 of diamonds spoon. Although bass season is a few weeks away they are hard to avoid. The smallmouths are everywhere.

Mike,
The Bass season opens a week from Saturday (June 23rd).
My dad and Bill should be arriving in camp later this afternoon(June 15).
Nice Pike Morgan!
Jay,
It's a little confusing, but it appears bass season in the Nippissing area is June 30 this year (the last Saturday in June).
Here's a link to the regs: http://www.mnr.gov.on.ca/mnr/pubs/fishing/fishRegs/2005/Map_C_fr2005.pdf
Tony,
Yes it is a little confusing. Im in contact with the Ministry every week as a represenitive of the Muskies Canada chapter in Sudbury so I am up to date on the regs.

" In 2007, the season for largemouth and smallmouth bass was CHANGED from the last Saturday in June to the FOURTH Saturday in June and will open on JUNE 23rd in Divisions 1-11, 12A, 13, 15-18, 26-29 and 35 (Upper French is Div.27).
I posted this on one of my earlier blogs but i'll post it again.
If anyone is confused or has questions regarding regulations on the Upper French River/Lake Nipissing contact:

When you want to know how to gatch pike, see Morgan!
Jay,
Lunge Lodge is in zone 11 this year and bass season starts 4th Saturday in June, which means June 22.
gbernhardt,
For all practical purposes the Upper French and Lake Nipissing (east of hwy 64) will remain Div. 27 this season and not be known as Fisheries Management Zone 11 until January of 2008. And the fourth saturday in June is the 23rd.
Guys not trying to be a jerk here but if your not sure on the regs please dont post it. It only adds to the confusion.
